Artist Sandy McCollough - Garden Art Cards

Artist Sandy McCollough lives in the home she and her husband built on a wooded bluff overlooking the deep waters of Big Bay de Noc on the Garden Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The natural beauty of the area provides

plenty of inspiration for the owner of Garden Art Cards.

Her creations begin with hours of tiny pencil lines fashioned into images of feathers, nests, flowers and wildlife. Additional layers of pastels and acrylics bring the objects to life.

A sand dollar, a sun flower and a tiger lily are some of the popular pieces that, like all Sandy’s art, begin as full-scale originals. She then recreates the designs as prints and art cards, some with inspirational quotes to help make any occasion special.

“I am so blessed and grateful to be surrounded by creative, artistic, loving people here on the Garden Peninsula,” the artist says.

You’ll find Sandy’s original art, prints and cards in the Garden Grit online store.

Find Your Inner Muse in the U.P.!

It's great when the U.P. gets noticed by the rest of the world. We should have guessed that Jim Harrison,  author of Legends of the Fall, spent time here in the Upper Peninsula (see Jim's recent article in the NY Times). So did Ernest Hemingway. For that matter, so does U.P. author Nicole Young! What a great place to get in touch with your inner muse!
